A Distinguished Career in Public Service

For over two decades, Gjon Juncaj represented the United States across the country and overseas. As a federal prosecutor and international legal advisor, Gjon was entrusted with some of the most sensitive and impactful matters both at home and abroad.

His career at the U.S. Department of Justice included service as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in Detroit, Anti-Corruption Resident Legal Advisor at the U.S. Embassy in Albania, and Senior Litigation Counsel for immigration matters in Washington D.C.

Federal Prosecutor

Between 2010 and 2025, Gjon prosecuted several important cases. This included cases against transnational drug trafficking and money laundering organizations, corrupt public officials, white-collar fraud defendants, and a multinational corporation.

He also served in the National Security Unit, investigating threats to our country and its citizens.

International Rule of Law Advisor

Between 2015 and 2018, Gjon served as the government’s Anti-Corruption Resident Legal Advisor at the U.S. Embassy in Albania, playing a pivotal role in landmark rule of law reforms. He helped advance and implement a specialized anti-corruption and organized crime prosecutor’s office, strengthening accountability at the highest levels.

His expertise extended beyond Albania, assisting other U.S. allies in Europe, South America, and the Middle East to advance justice and combat financial crimes.

Senior Litigator on Immigration Matters

Earlier in his career, Gjon served for six years in the Office of Immigration Litigation at the U.S. Department of Justice in Washington, D.C.

As Senior Litigation Counsel, he supervised and litigated high-profile immigration cases nationwide. This included arguing before several U.S. district and appellate courts. and leading the DOJ’s national response to challenges involving detention in immigration proceedings.

U.S. v. Leo Sharp

Led financial prosecution and secured forfeiture of assets against Sinaloa cartel drug courier later portrayed in Clint Eastwood’s movie The Mule.

U.S. v. Hino Motors

Obtained over $1 billion forfeiture money judgment against auto manufacturer in emissions fraud case.

U.S. v. Ahab Elmadhoun

Led financial prosecution recovering fraud proceeds hidden in Middle East bank account.

U.S. v. Maurice McCoy, et al.

Led financial prosecution and secured money laundering jury trial verdict against defendants laundering for transnational drug trafficking organization.

U.S. v. Michael Grundy

Led financial prosecution and asset forfeiture recovery against corrupt Wayne County official.

U.S. v. Dr. Rajendra Bothra

Negotiated $6.5 million civil penalty against doctor acquitted of health care fraud.

Led financial investigation and civil prosecution against Dubai-based money laundering syndicate.
